He knows I killed Grelod the Kind and that I did it to save the children she was abusing, but he doesn't know about Aventus or what happened afterwards.
Then we can publicly remain as fellow travelers from the same world, and nothing more.

It will. But the natural inclination of most will be to draw a line between
us based on our shared world, no matter how foolish that would be. If one
of us comes under suspicion, the other will face more scrutiny.
